It was a tremendously successful Rolex Ky for the whole team at Wise Equestrian!
Although the popularity and loyalty of our customer base has been increasing exponentially since I started working with the saddles last November, nothing could have prepared me for the overwhelming response we received at Rolex. It was far beyond what I had imagined and throughout the week it was so fantastic to see the visible change in perception that people now have towards the saddles.

When I first started taking the saddles to shows earlier this year, most people I met were skeptical at first. Now, people generally say, “Oh I’ve been seeing these saddles around, and have been wanting to try one!” The public’s general reaction is so awesome.
Thankfully, we have two wonderful new sales reps, Amy Gentile and Risa Flamm, who started on with us at Rolex….and what a week to get trained! Both Amy and Risa were fast learners and ultra-enthusiastic. I wouldn’t have been able to manage the week without them!
We had Phillip at the booth on Friday to sign autographs and on Sunday he came for the raffle drawing of the saddle which he had ridden in on Saturday for cross-country. We held a raffle to benefit the Thoroughbred Rescue at the Ky Horse Park and Phillip’s daughter, Olivia, drew the winning number. Curtis Moore, a father who had bought the chance as a surprise on behalf of his daughter, was the lucky winner. Needless to say his daughter was SO excited and we helped support a worthy cause!
We want to also congratulate Phillip on a stellar weekend, where he placed 10th on Mighty Nice and 12th on Fernhill Eagle. It was quite a successful weekend for Team Wise Equestrian! Enjoy the photo album of Phillip competing both horses and of all the action at the Wise Equestrian booth.

I think that Rolex really proved to be a milestone and a turning point for these fantastic saddles. It generated so much exposure and positive feedback, and I have been inundated with calls, orders, and requests for trials since I returned home. In addition, Amy and Risa are now hitting the road in their respective parts of the country with their Wise trailers, so our reach is increasing even more.
This weekend, look for me at the Jersey Fresh CCI*** and Amy will be at Galway Downs in Temecula, California. Stay tuned for the updated travel calendar & Wise Rep page on our site!
We’re packing up the mobile unit and heading to Kentucky! It’s certain to be a thrilling week and we hope that you’ll come by our booth in the Sponsor’s Village, near the stadium arena and across from Bit of Britain.
Phillip will be on hand to sign autographs and to hand out a special discount that we’re offering at Rolex. The discount and exact time of these signings will be posted after we have his ride times. Good luck to all the competitors!!
Wise Equestrian is thrilled to announce our partnership with the USEA as their Official Saddle sponsor! “The U.S. Eventing Association is pleased to announce that Wise Equestrian will be joining the USEA’s corporate sponsors as the Official Saddle of the USEA. As part of the new relationship, Wise Equestrian will become a sponsor of the USEA’s American Eventing Championships as well as the Annual Meeting and Convention. As one of the perks to competitors and USEA members, our products and saddles will be given as prizes at the AEC’s and the USEA Annual Convention. So get out there and ride, ride, ride as you could be one of our lucky winners!
The Wise mobile unit is also getting ready to head back to our home base in Delaware. This season has flown by so quickly with just one more week left in sunny Florida! The mobile unit will be at The Fork next weekend before migrating north in time to start gearing up for Rolex!
Welcome Sharn Wordley – International Grand Prix Show Jumper!
Sharn Wordley on Upper Class at Fox Lea
We are thrilled to announce that Sharn Wordley, international Grand Prix show jumper and former Olympian, will be representing Wise Equestrian and the Dutton RZ saddle line. Based out of his farm in Ocala, Florida, Sharn operates a busy training business and is looking forward to an exciting year with his three current Grand Prix mounts.
Originally from New Zealand, Sharn has attended multiple Nations Cup competitions and the 1998 Olympics. Sharn will be acting as our ambassador in the show jumping world, spreading the word about our saddles while competing in them. We’re very excited about this partnership and know that Sharn will represent us well! In addition to being a top professional rider, Sharn is also the founding partner of Wordley Martin Equestrian, providers and installers of premium equine surfaces. For more about Sharn and his business, visit wordleymartin.com.
On another high note, congratulations to Wise rider, owner, and co-designer Ronald Zabala-Goetschel on his recent qualification for the London 2012 Olympics! Ronald secured his spot as the South American representative with his win at the Campo de Mayo FEI event in Argentina earlier this month. It is so exciting to know that there will be at least one rider in London rocking around in the Dutton RZ saddles. And if Phillip keeps on pace with his win two weekends ago at Red Hills, Ronald won’t be the only one! All the best of luck to Ronald in England this summer.
Red Hills 2012
The Wise mobile unit has been continuing its trek around the southeast this month, with a few stops in Aiken for Pine Top and Sporting Days, as well as a really fun and busy weekend in Tallahassee at Red Hills. This picture was taken at Red Hills, where the wonderful organizers let me take some of the saddles up by the cross-country course on Saturday where I had a great view of the action and many interested spectators who came by and looked at the saddles. It was fantastic!
“The mobile unit has now attended horse trials for the last 5 weekends straight and it looks like the Dutton RZ saddles are really taking off! Our first event of the year was at Longwood Farm, during which we gave away one of the saddles in a raffle. I ran into the lucky winner, Megan Gosch, at the Florida Horse Park event, and she had just completed her cross-country ride in the new saddle and loved it!
I have attended both Rocking Horse I and II, and that event was a fabulous one for Wise Equestrian. The show organizers did a fantastic job with the vendor village, and despite some rain (and a sandstorm!) plenty of people dropped by to sit in our saddles “with all the holes”!
Next was Poplar Place, and a 6 hour drive for the mobile unit up to Georgia. That weekend was well worth the trip, as there were Dutton RZ saddles in action everywhere! Julie Richards, Alex Green, and many of their students were rocking around cross-country in their WisAir saddles. The best testament to the quality and innovative design of the saddles comes from happy customers, and it was a busy weekend for me!
The weekend of February 10th-12th took the Wise mobile unit to the Florida Horse Park for the Ocala Horse Properties Winter event. Despite some chilly conditions, many came by the mobile unit and we snapped some photos of the trailer at this event.”
Look for the Wise Equestrian mobile unit and our Dutton RZ saddles to be traveling back to Georgia this coming weekend for the Pine Top Advanced horse trials. Our schedule for March includes Sporting Days in Aiken then Red Hills Horse Trials in Tallahassee. Keep your eyes peeled for us, and come visit Kelley (and her sidekick Sophie the shih tzu) at the mobile unit at an event near you!
Are you a dynamic, outgoing, well-spoken person? Are you looking to become part of an exciting sales team dedicated to spreading the word about innovative products? Do you love to travel and meet new people? Well look no farther because Wise Equestrian is currently seeking a new sales reps to expand our product exposure into the midwest and west coast!
This is a full-time salaried position with the opportunity to make commissions in addition. Requirements include a vehicle that can haul one of our 16′ cargo trailers, attendance at events 3 weekends per month, and calls to farms and tack stores in between.
Last weekend we attended the Longwood Farm Horse Trial with one of our mobile saddle units. They held a competitors party, and we raffled off a new 17″ Dutton RZ XC-Show Jumping Saddle. It was a festive evening with dinner, drinks & prizes!
The winner was Megan Gosch, from Gainesville, who competed in the Novice and Tadpole divisions. She is pictured here with company founder Ronald Zabala-Goetschel. Congratulations Megan!!

We are also very happy to welcome Kelley Merette to the Wise-Equestrian team! Kelley joins us from the staff at True Prospect Farm where she worked for 3 years gaining invaluable experience in one of the world’s top international eventing barns. Prior to working for Phillip Dutton, she worked for 2 years with Courtney Cooper after completing her degree in Equine Science from Colorado State University, where she graduated with honors in 2007! Kelley has been selected as our National Sales Manager, and she will be heading south this January with one of our three mobile units, which will be covering Area 3 horse shows and events in Florida, Georgia and Aiken, South Carolina. Our second mobile unit will be covering Area 2 at the Southern Pines shows in March, and we are in the process of hiring a representative to cover Area 6 in California for that eventing and show circuit.
Our company was created out of partnership between two top upper level event riders, Ronald Zabala-Goetschel and Phillip Dutton.
